The work provides a detailed topographical view of the estate, capturing the architectural form of the main building alongside its surrounding grounds. The artist employs a bird's-eye perspective, which allows for a clear observation of the formal gardens, the structured layout of the trees, and the courtyard entrance.

The composition is defined by the central placement of the manor, flanked by smaller outbuildings and gatehouses. Elandts uses fine, controlled lines to delineate the masonry of the house, the texture of the foliage, and the geometric patterns of the garden beds. Small figures are placed within the courtyard, providing a sense of scale to the architecture. The sky is rendered with light hatching, suggesting a clear day, while the foreground features a path leading toward the main gate, inviting the viewer into the scene.

Topographical prints of this nature were common in the seventeenth-century Netherlands, serving as records of country estates and provincial architecture. They were often produced for collectors interested in the geography and development of the Dutch countryside. Elandts demonstrates a focus on clarity and precision, prioritising the accurate representation of the estate over atmospheric effects. The print offers a glimpse into the aesthetic preferences of the period, where the order and symmetry of the garden were as important as the structure of the residence itself. This piece remains a valuable historical document for those interested in Dutch architectural history and the evolution of estate design during the seventeenth century.

You might also like

Untitled (Two Soldiers on Horseback, Etching) - Fine Art Print — Unknown Artist
Dilapidated Farm - Jan van de Velde II — Jan van de Velde II

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0833/9292/1935/files/Huis-te-Werve_Poster_CompositorV1_1791787268991.jpg?v=1791788021
