The composition depicts the allegorical figure of Fortuna, blindfolded and balanced precariously upon a sphere, as she scatters various worldly goods and symbols of status among a chaotic crowd below. The figures are rendered with the exaggerated musculature and contorted poses characteristic of the period, reflecting the influence of Adriaen de Vries and the broader Mannerist interest in anatomical complexity.

The scene is dense with activity, as individuals scramble to catch the falling items, which include crowns, coins, and other emblems of power. Muller employs a sophisticated system of hatching and cross-hatching to define the volume of the figures and the depth of the space. The light source appears to emanate from the figure of Fortune herself, casting dramatic shadows across the struggling masses.
