Suzanne Valadon, a self-taught painter who began her career as a model for artists such as Renoir and Toulouse-Lautrec, developed a distinctively robust and unpretentious style. In this work, she presents a domestic scene that balances the organic form of a floral arrangement with the quiet presence of a ginger cat.
