Chobham Common centres on a stone obelisk above heather and sandy tracks, with tall pines setting a calm, open rhythm across the reserve in Surrey.
In the foreground, a broad-trunked tree rises above low purple growth and a narrow path that bends towards the monument. Smaller conifers stand beyond the track, framing a tall tapered memorial on a stepped base. Pale stones sit around its foot, and broken clouds leave broad passages of blue over the open ground.
