The figures are rendered with the elongated proportions and dramatic gestures characteristic of the Northern Mannerist style.

Sadeler, a member of a prominent family of engravers, demonstrates technical precision in his handling of the burin. The cross-hatching and fine line work create a sense of volume in the drapery and depth within the tiled floor and architectural elements.
