This woodblock print by Hasui Kawase depicts the Kintai Bridge in Iwakuni, a structure known for its series of wooden arches. Kawase, a central figure in the Shin-hanga movement, applied traditional Japanese printmaking techniques to subjects that captured the atmosphere of the early twentieth century. The composition balances the architectural geometry of the bridge with the organic forms of cherry blossoms in the foreground.
