Karl Bodmer, a Swiss-born artist who later settled in France, is widely recognised for his technical precision in depicting the natural world. While he is frequently associated with his North American expeditionary works, his later career in France saw him become a member of the Barbizon circle. During this period, he produced numerous etchings focusing on domestic and wild animals within their natural habitats.

This etching captures a small group of goats in a quiet, wooded setting.
