This woodblock print originates from the collection titled Momoyogusa, or Flowers of a Hundred Worlds, published in 1909. Kamisaka Sekka was a central figure in the revival of the Rinpa school during the early twentieth century. His work synthesises traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern design sensibilities. The Rinpa school is known for its use of bold colours, gold leaf backgrounds, and stylised depictions of nature. Sekka, however, adapted these techniques to suit the medium of the woodblock print, creating images that feel both historical and contemporary.

The composition features a figure dressed in traditional court attire, positioned amidst a garden setting. The artist employs a flat perspective, typical of the Rinpa style, where depth is suggested through the arrangement of elements rather than linear projection.
