Thomas Shotter Boys was a British artist who spent significant time in Paris, where he trained under Richard Parkes Bonington. This work is a plate from his celebrated 1839 publication, 'Picturesque Architecture in Paris, Ghent, Antwerp, Rouen, etc.' The lithograph captures the dome and facade of the Chapelle de l'Institut de France, a structure originally commissioned by Cardinal Mazarin.
