Victor Borisov-Musatov produced this study of the Zubrilovka estate during a period of intense creative output. The Zubrilovka manor, a former estate of the Prozorovsky-Golitsyn family, occupied a central place in the artist's imagination. He spent several summers there, capturing the decaying grandeur of the Russian nobility through a lens of melancholic reflection.

In this work, the artist employs a soft, atmospheric application of paint. The yellow facade of the building catches the light, contrasting with the cool, blue-toned shadows that stretch across the architecture. The brushwork is loose and gestural, prioritising the emotional resonance of the scene over precise architectural rendering. The surrounding greenery is treated with similar fluidity, merging the structure into the garden environment.
