Description
Moffat Hills open in warm gold beyond a pale stone viaduct, where heather and sunlit slopes frame the long sweep of the Southern Uplands.
Beneath Moffat Hills, a procession of cream-coloured arches crosses a wooded hollow beneath broad purple-brown ridges. Dark trees gather around the footings, while rose moorland and fractured grey rocks set a close, textured foreground. Patches of ochre field and deep shadow travel across the valley floor, with a high amber sky opening above the summit.
For walkers, cyclists and nearby residents, this upland country offers changing views along quiet routes through the Southern Uplands. The long line of arches gives the valley a clear point of reference, and the light can turn its stonework from cool grey to honey against the open hills.
