This work is a fine example of the Ottoman calligraphic tradition, specifically a 'muttasıl müfredat' or a connected alphabet exercise. Mustafa Rakim, a master of the Jali Thuluth and Thuluth scripts, is credited with refining the proportions of these styles during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. His influence on the development of Ottoman calligraphy is significant, as he introduced a more balanced approach to letter forms that moved away from the rigid structures of his predecessors.

The composition features two horizontal registers of Arabic script, executed in a fluid, confident hand. The ink work displays the characteristic modulation of line weight that defines the Thuluth script, where the transition between thick and thin strokes is managed with precision. The text is set against a parchment-toned background, which provides a neutral field for the dark ink to occupy.

The central panel is framed by a decorative border featuring floral motifs in shades of pink and turquoise. This illumination, or 'tezhip', serves to contain the calligraphic exercise within a structured space. The use of gold accents within the border adds a layer of refinement to the piece, typical of the high-quality manuscript production of the period.
