Niko Pirosmani, a self-taught Georgian painter, created this work on oilcloth, a material he frequently utilised due to its affordability and availability in the taverns of Tiflis. This fragment depicts a scene from a traditional Georgian feast, or supra, associated with the celebration of Saint George’s Day in the Bolnisi region. The composition is characteristic of Pirosmani's approach, featuring simplified figures set against a dark, monochromatic background that lacks traditional perspective.

The figures are rendered with a directness that avoids academic artifice. Two men sit behind a table laden with bottles, while a third figure stands to the left, holding a piece of cloth or meat. The table is covered with a white cloth, and several bottles are arranged both upon it and on the ground, suggesting the abundance typical of such communal gatherings.
