The left panel shows the birth of John the Baptist, with Elizabeth resting in a bed while attendants care for the infant. The central panel captures the baptism of Christ in the River Jordan, featuring a dramatic depiction of the Holy Spirit descending from above. The right panel presents the grim conclusion of the narrative, showing Salome receiving the head of the Baptist. Throughout the work, the artist demonstrates a keen eye for material textures, from the heavy folds of the drapery to the reflective surfaces of the interior settings.
