A raven is shown descending from above, carrying a loaf of bread to the hermits, a detail drawn from the hagiographic accounts of their lives. The figures are positioned in a dialogue, with their gestures suggesting a quiet exchange amidst the harsh surroundings.

The colour palette is dominated by earthy tones, including deep browns, ochres, and muted greens, which contrast with the pale, weathered skin of the saints. The lighting is dramatic, casting long shadows and emphasising the textures of the drapery and the rugged terrain. This work demonstrates the artist's ability to convey psychological weight through physical form.
