This engraving by Marcantonio Raimondi depicts the removal of Christ from the cross, a subject frequently explored by Renaissance artists. Raimondi, a figure of significant importance in the history of printmaking, was instrumental in disseminating the visual language of the Italian Renaissance across Europe.
