The Triptych of Jan Floreins, painted by Hans Memling in 1479, is a masterwork of Early Netherlandish art. Commissioned by Jan Floreins, a brother at the Hospital of Saint John in Bruges, the work functions as a devotional object. This specific panel depicts the Adoration of the Magi, a common subject in the period, yet Memling approaches the scene with a distinct focus on quiet observation and domestic intimacy.

In the central panel, the Virgin Mary sits with the Christ Child, while the kneeling Magus offers a golden vessel. Memling employs a muted palette, allowing the deep blues of the Virgin's robes and the warm reds of the donor's attire to provide structure to the composition. The architectural setting, a partially ruined structure, opens into a distant, detailed landscape that draws the eye toward the horizon. The inclusion of the donor, Jan Floreins, on the left side of the panel, connects the sacred narrative to the contemporary world of the patron. His presence is rendered with careful attention to individual features, reflecting the artist's skill in portraiture.
