Lauweriks was a significant figure in the Dutch decorative arts, known for his interest in geometric systems and the mathematical ordering of space, which is evident in the structured, rhythmic composition of this piece.

The design employs a high-contrast, monochromatic palette typical of woodcut printing. The central text, REFORM-TEEKENPAPIER, is integrated into a horizontal frame. Below the lettering, a heraldic shield featuring a horse acts as a central anchor, flanked by secondary emblems.
