This etching by Salomon Savery depicts the allegorical triumphal entry of Frederick Henry, Prince of Orange, into The Hague. Savery, a Dutch engraver active during the seventeenth century, utilised the medium to communicate complex political narratives through classical iconography. The composition is divided into distinct registers: the earthly procession and the celestial realm.

In the foreground, Frederick Henry is shown in a chariot, surrounded by figures representing virtues such as Justice and Prudence. Above, a winged figure of Fame heralds the arrival, while the upper portion of the print reveals the 'Nassauische Heldenhemel', or the Nassau hero-heaven, where ancestors look down upon the scene. To the right, a monumental triumphal arch bears a Latin inscription honouring the Prince, reinforcing his status as a military victor. The background features a detailed rendering of the Dutch cityscape, providing a sense of place despite the heavy reliance on symbolic elements.

Savery employs fine, precise lines to delineate the textures of clothing, the architectural details of the arch, and the expressive faces of the crowd. The use of light and shadow creates a sense of depth, guiding the viewer from the immediate action of the procession toward the distant horizon.
