Carter Bar follows a winding hill road past a weathered boundary stone, with heather slopes and a broad mauve ridge catching the last warmth of the evening sky.
A pale ribbon of tarmac bends through Carter Bar beneath layered clouds, drawing the eye from rough roadside grasses towards folded moorland. Ochre light touches the slopes while deeper purple shadows collect in the hollows, and the old stone marker in the foreground gives the route a human scale.
