This engraving by Cornelis Cort depicts the Coronation of the Virgin, a subject frequently explored in sixteenth-century European art. Cort, a Dutch engraver who spent significant time in Italy, was known for his technical precision and his ability to translate the painterly qualities of Italian masters into the medium of print.
