The composition is circular, a format often used in the period to suggest the celestial or the totality of the cosmos. At the centre, a large sphere represents the earth, which is being manipulated by two muscular male figures. These figures, rendered with the exaggerated musculature typical of the Northern Mannerist style, appear to be positioning the globe within the heavens. Above them, a cloud-enshrouded deity gestures towards the sphere, suggesting divine oversight of the physical realm.

The print demonstrates the technical precision of Muller, a master of the burin. The lines are fine and controlled, creating a sense of volume in the figures and depth in the surrounding clouds. The use of cross-hatching provides a range of tones, from the deep shadows of the clouds to the bright highlights on the figures and the celestial bodies held by the men. Below the central scene, a cartouche contains a Latin text by F. Estius, which provides a theological framework for the visual narrative. The inclusion of broken columns at the base of the composition adds a classical element, contrasting the eternal nature of the creation with the transient ruins of human architecture.

Muller was a central figure in the Haarlem school, and his work often reflects the influence of Hendrick Goltzius, whose design is credited on the plate.
