Volodymyr Orlovsky, a prominent figure in nineteenth-century Ukrainian painting, captures the quietude of the countryside in this study. The composition focuses on the transition between a dense, shadowed tree line and an open, sun-drenched meadow. Orlovsky employs a tactile application of paint, using visible brushwork to define the texture of the grass and the heavy foliage of the trees.
