Jean-Jacques de Boissieu, a French artist from Lyon, produced this etching in 1764. The work depicts a rural scene along the road to Lyon, specifically at the entrance to the Forest of Fontainebleau. De Boissieu was known for his technical precision in printmaking, often drawing inspiration from Dutch masters of the seventeenth century, such as Jacob van Ruisdael.
