At the centre, the figure of Fama, or Fame, stands atop a winged globe, sounding two trumpets simultaneously. This iconography draws upon classical motifs, representing the swift and far-reaching nature of reputation. Below the globe, a collection of objects, including a helmet and tools, suggests the transience of worldly achievements and the vanity of human endeavour.

To the left, a putto blows soap bubbles, a common memento mori symbolising the fragility of life. To the right, another putto sits near an hourglass, recording events in a book. This juxtaposition of activity and record-keeping provides a narrative balance to the central figure. The composition is typical of the Mannerist period, favouring intellectualised symbolism and precise, delicate line work over naturalistic space. Jamnitzer, known primarily for his work in precious metals, brings a goldsmith's attention to detail to this print. The hatching is controlled and rhythmic, defining the musculature of the figures and the textures of the surrounding environment.
