This woodblock print by Chōbunsai Eishi depicts a scene from the series Fuji no Uraha, or The Reverse Side of Wisteria. Eishi, a former painter in the service of the Tokugawa shogunate, transitioned to the ukiyo-e genre during the late eighteenth century. His work is known for its refined aesthetic, often featuring tall, slender figures with elegant postures that differ from the more robust proportions favoured by his contemporaries.

The composition presents a group of women in a garden setting, likely associated with a narrative or theatrical theme.
