Lucebert, the pseudonym of Lubertus Jacobus Swaanswijk, was a central figure in the Dutch post-war avant-garde. Known primarily for his poetry, he was also a prolific visual artist whose work often mirrors the raw, spontaneous energy of the CoBrA movement. This ink drawing, titled Gefragmenteerd wezen (Fragmented Being), displays the artist's characteristic approach to form and line.

The composition is constructed through a series of interlocking, geometric planes that suggest a figure in a state of dissolution or reconstruction.
