Jan de Beijer was a prolific draughtsman known for his precise topographical records of the Dutch Republic. This drawing, dated 16 August 1751, captures the village of Zeist with the clarity and observational rigour characteristic of his practice. De Beijer travelled extensively across the Netherlands, producing hundreds of sketches that documented the appearance of towns, churches, and country estates during the mid-eighteenth century.
