This woodblock print by Keisai Eisen depicts the post station of Itabana, the fifteenth stop on the Kiso Kaido road. The scene captures a winter journey through the mountainous terrain of Japan. Travellers wearing traditional straw capes and conical hats navigate the path, their figures small against the weight of the snow-laden pine trees.
