The artist, active in the Upper Rhine region, is recognised for a fluid, sketch-like approach to the burin and drypoint needle, which departs from the rigid hatching techniques common to his contemporaries.

The composition features a female figure positioned behind a heraldic shield. The shield displays the letters A and N, flanked by decorative flourishes. To her left, a small owl perches atop a helmet, a motif that adds a layer of symbolic ambiguity to the scene. Above the figure, a blank scroll unfurls, providing a sense of movement and framing the upper portion of the print.
