Cock, a publisher and printmaker based in Antwerp, played a significant role in the dissemination of European art through his print shop, Aux Quatre Vents. His work often synthesised the influence of Italian masters with the northern tradition of detailed, atmospheric scenery. The sky is filled with dramatic, swirling clouds, and an angel descends from the upper left, providing a sense of divine intervention.
