Description
Loch Dochfour follows a quiet waterway towards blue Highland peaks, with a small waterside house and pine-covered rocks giving the scene a settled edge.
A long stone embankment leads past the house towards a low lock or bridge, its pale blocks repeated in the water below. Tall pines rise from the rocky foreground, while yellow-green trees gather around the shore and layered mountains build towards a pointed summit beneath cloud.
For those who know Loch Dochfour near the Caledonian Canal, the meeting of built route and open Highland ground is part of its appeal. The view keeps both in play, beginning at the close rock face and finishing where the straight waterline meets the distant hills.
