As a member of the Little Masters, a group of German printmakers who produced small-scale, highly detailed works, Aldegrever demonstrates his technical precision through the controlled use of the burin. The central figure stands in a contrapposto pose, draped in heavy, voluminous fabric that reveals the artist's interest in the human form and classical drapery styles common in the sixteenth century.

To the left, a tall obelisk features small figures at its base, while a coat of arms sits above. The figure of Charity holds a standard adorned with a pelican, a traditional symbol of self-sacrifice and maternal care in Christian iconography.
