This engraving, derived from the publication Palazzi di Genova, presents a precise architectural elevation of the Palazzo Pallavicino. Peter Paul Rubens, while widely recognised for his painterly output, demonstrated a keen interest in the classical architecture of Italy during his residence there. This work documents the structural proportions and decorative elements of the Genoese residence, capturing the formal rigour of the period.

The composition is organised into distinct horizontal registers. The ground floor features rusticated masonry and arched openings, providing a sense of weight and stability. Above this, the piano nobile is defined by a series of columns and pedimented windows, reflecting the influence of classical orders. The upper level maintains a rhythmic consistency, culminating in a cornice adorned with bucrania and circular motifs. The drawing style is clean and analytical, prioritising clarity of form over atmospheric effects.
