Lepautre was a prolific designer of ornament, and his prints were widely circulated as models for architects, cabinet makers, and silversmiths across Europe. This specific composition functions as a design for a decorative panel, featuring a balanced arrangement of human figures integrated with elaborate acanthus foliage and classical motifs.

The composition is divided into two distinct sections. On the left, a male and female figure are depicted in a dynamic pose, partially obscured by flowing drapery. The right side features a seated male figure, positioned amidst a dense arrangement of fruit and leaves. The inclusion of a medallion profile adds a layer of classical reference, common in the decorative arts of the seventeenth century. The frame surrounding the scene is decorated with a repeating laurel leaf pattern, which provides a clean boundary for the dense ornamentation within.
