Konstantin Somov, a founding member of the Mir Iskusstva (World of Art) group, produced this work in 1932. It captures a performance of the Ballets Russes at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. The conductor is visible in the foreground, his baton raised, while the audience occupies the dimly lit boxes to the left.

On stage, the dancers are rendered in ethereal, pale tones, their white tutus contrasting against the soft, atmospheric backdrop of a forest scene.
