Description
Raiko raises the sacred sake before Shuten-doji while the disguised warriors keep their nerve, bringing the story to a close exchange of cup, hand, face and hidden intent.
The tense exchange sits at the centre of the banquet. A vessel is offered between the two sides while the demon host watches and the surrounding men keep their faces composed. The moment is quiet only on the surface; the visitors' purpose remains concealed and the room is waiting for what comes next.
Close framing makes the hand, bowl and faces carry the action. Smoked plum, ash, muted red and warm paper replace the broader banquet colours, giving this panel a quieter pressure before the fight begins. Broken key lines and uneven pigment keep the surface tactile. This print occupies the third position in the set and offers a contemporary reading of the Mount Oe legend.
