This miniature, attributed to the French master Jean Fouquet, originates from the celebrated Hours of Étienne Chevalier. In the upper portion, Christ ascends into a pale blue sky, surrounded by a host of angels with deep blue wings. Below, the Virgin Mary and the Apostles are depicted in a tight, circular arrangement.
