This woodblock print by Chōbunsai Eishi depicts the courtesan Kisagata of the Ohishiya house during a night-time procession. Eishi, a former painter in the service of the Tokugawa shogunate, transitioned to the ukiyo-e genre, where he became known for his refined depictions of women. In this composition, the central figure of Kisagata is flanked by two shinzo, or apprentice courtesans, and accompanied by a young kamuro. The figures are rendered with the elongated proportions that define Eishi's mature style, moving away from the more rounded forms favoured by his contemporaries.

The print captures the atmosphere of the Yoshiwara pleasure district. The figures wear elaborate kimono, with the patterns of the fabric rendered through precise woodblock carving. The colour palette is restrained, relying on soft tones of plum, charcoal, and muted ochre, which reflect the limited pigment range available to the printer at the time. The background architecture is suggested through simple vertical lines, providing a sense of place without distracting from the primary subjects. The inclusion of a small lantern at the bottom right indicates the nocturnal setting, a common motif in prints depicting the life of the courtesans.

Eishi's work is notable for its formal balance and the grace of the figures' postures. Unlike the more dramatic or exaggerated expressions found in other ukiyo-e schools, Eishi maintained a sense of composure in his subjects.
