In the upper left, Christ sits upon a cloud, observing the scene with a calm, authoritative presence. Below, the saint kneels in a state of physical and spiritual submission. Two angels, rendered with dynamic movement, carry out the act of flagellation. The contrast between the celestial figures and the earthly suffering of the saint is managed through a palette of warm, earthy tones and soft, atmospheric clouds that fill the background.
