This copperplate engraving by Theodor de Bry serves as the title page for the 1593 edition of Jean-Jacques Boissard's Emblematum Liber. De Bry, a Flemish engraver and goldsmith, was known for his technical precision and his role in disseminating humanist ideas through printed media. The composition follows the conventions of the architectural title page, a popular format in the late sixteenth century that frames text within a classical structure.

The central panel contains the title and publication details, flanked by two allegorical figures. On the left, Hercules is depicted with his traditional attributes, including the lion skin and club, representing strength and virtue. On the right, Minerva stands with her spear and the aegis, symbolising wisdom and strategic intellect. Above the central text, two female figures hold cornucopias, suggesting abundance and prosperity.
