Description
Spring blossom, summer green, autumn maple and winter snow surround Urashima Taro and Otohime, compressing the undersea palace's changing seasons into one richly patterned print.
The palace garden refuses the ordinary order of the shore. Around the two figures, flowering branches give way to dense foliage, red leaves and snow, all present at once. Their passage through this changing realm reveals how far Urashima has travelled from human time, even within Otohime's welcome.
The fourth print opens the series into a patterned meditation on change. Each seasonal passage receives its own colour rhythm, yet firm black outlines bind the garden into one contemporary composition. A vertical arrangement holds abundance and unease together, placing the pair within a world whose beauty cannot make their eventual return to the shore simple.
