Pilate stands with his back to the viewer, draped in a golden toga that catches the light, his posture suggesting authority and bureaucratic detachment. Opposite him, Christ appears in a simple, dark robe, his form gaunt and weary. The interaction is not one of divine majesty, but of a tense, human dialogue. The title refers to the question posed by Pilate in the Gospel of John, and Ge captures the moment of silence that follows.
