Benjamin Blyth
Benjamin Blyth operated out of a studio in Salem, Massachusetts, during the late eighteenth century. Unlike many of his contemporaries who focused on oil painting, Blyth specialised in the medium of pastel. He often worked on paper or parchment, creating portraits for the merchant families of New England. His career took an unusual turn when he relocated to Virginia in the 1780s, after which his professional activities became harder for historians to track.
