Gerard ter Borch
Gerard ter Borch was a Dutch Republic artist born in 1617 and died in 1681. In 1653, he was thirty-six years old and worked as a portrait and genre painter. Records indicate he was in Amsterdam in 1648, followed by time in South Flanders and Kampen. He also spent time in The Hague around 1652-1653, where he produced portraits including one of Jan van Goyen.
Biography
In April 1653, he visited Delft and witnessed an act of surety alongside Johannes Vermeer. Solis Prints offers fine art prints of his work, including A Man Counting Money, A Man with an Arquebus, from Behind, Portrait of a Seated Man, and Portrait of a Woman.
