Biography
His artistic approach merged the precision of Greek Revival architecture with the atmosphere of German Romanticism. He was a contemporary of Caspar David Friedrich and shared an interest in the relationship between nature and structure. This is evident in Gothic Church among Oaks and Coach in Deep Woods. Schinkel also designed domestic objects, including chairs and smoking vessels, as seen in his Studieblad met zitmeubelen.
Modern collectors value Schinkel for his technical accuracy and clean lines. His sketches for St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna or the Traunsee bij Gmunden offer a structured view of the world. These works bring a sense of historical weight to a room without the clutter of later Victorian styles. His drawings of furniture and architectural details provide a refined aesthetic for contemporary interiors.
