Description
Abergavenny in Monmouthshire spreads its pale houses below a broad mountain skyline, with a slender church spire, wooded fields and golden slopes glowing beneath the soft clouds of summer.
Abergavenny stands beside the Usk at the edge of Bannau Brycheiniog in Monmouthshire. The Sugar Loaf, Blorenge and Skirrid provide its familiar mountain setting. Walking routes connect the town with these uplands, the riverside and the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.
The town fills the middle of an elevated view, its pale walls and red roofs broken by a narrow church spire to the right. A broad mountain rises behind the buildings, blue-green across its face and golden along the crest. Tree belts divide the nearest fields. Cream clouds hang above the valley in warm summer sunshine.
