It belongs to the series titled The Sixty-nine Stations of the Kiso Kaidō, a collaborative project between Hiroshige and the publisher Iseya Rihei. The composition features a sweeping, curved path that guides the viewer through a hilly terrain. Tall, slender trees punctuate the green slopes, creating a rhythmic verticality against the soft, rolling hills.

Hiroshige employs a restrained colour palette, utilising muted greens for the grassy inclines and deep blues for the distant mountain peaks.
