Pavel Filonov, a central figure in the Russian avant-garde, developed a unique method he termed Analytical Art. This approach prioritised the organic growth of forms, where the artist treated the canvas as a living organism. In this work, the figures and objects are broken down into a series of geometric facets, creating a dense, crystalline structure that occupies the entire pictorial space. The composition avoids traditional perspective, opting instead for a flattened, multi-dimensional view where the boundaries between the subjects and their environment become porous.
