Description
Burry Holms on the Gower coast caps the far end of a golden beach, its low green island above white surf and blue water in late-summer sunshine.
Burry Holms is a tidal island at the northern end of Rhossili Bay on the Gower peninsula. Archaeological remains include an Iron Age fort and a medieval religious settlement associated with St Cenydd. Its position beside the sands makes the changing tide central to its landscape.
A low grassy island sits beyond the long sweep of pale gold sand, with light-coloured rock exposed below its green surface. Repeated white wave lines approach from blue water on the left. The near hillside is thick with grass and rusty bracken, catching late-summer light beneath white clouds above the distant coast.
